Architecture Prompts. Book project!

ArchitecturePromptsBook project!

This is an in-progress book about the culture of prompting in architecture and design pedagogy edited by Carl Lostritto. It is currently accepting submissions with an anticipated close date of July 31, 2026.

I hypothesize that architecture is a discipline uniquely attuned to prompting, which is increasingly relevant given the preponderance of agentic AI. This is not a student work publication. In fact, it will contain almost no images. But more to the point, it's about the creative craft of teaching by influencing and directing the creative process of others.

This project will contain interviews, essays, and an index of curated prompts. It's inspired by Paper Monument's Draw It with Your Eyes Closed: The Art of the Art Assignment, which collects stories about assignments from art and design courses. This book similarly invites stories about prompts, but will dig a bit deeper into the syntax, tone, and culture of prompts as bodies of text.

Do you teach architecture? Do you obsess over prompts? Are you a prompt connoisseur?

If so, please consider submitting a prompt (or a couple—multiple submissions are welcome). I'm also asking submitters to volunteer for blind peer review or reflective essays.
